“Brothers and sisters:
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear,
but you received a Spirit of adoption,
through whom we cry, “Abba, Father!”
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit
that we are children of God,
and if children, then heirs,
heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ,
if only we suffer with him
so that we may also be glorified with him.“
The experience of being a child is wonderful. All of us have been children and continue to be a child to someone or have a child /children. The bond between a child and their parents is strong and beautiful. It’s like having a piece of you living out life right in front of you. For us to be called children of the most high God is not only an honor but also a priceless privilege.
God, our Father loves us so deeply that He has sought means of communing with man from the beginning of time. And by giving us Jesus Christ, He has loved us with an everlasting love. Even then, He knows that we do not know how to pray, we are weak and doubtful. We have sinned and we continue to stray in our thoughts and in our Faith but He gives us the Holy Spirit.
In this scripture , St. Paul recognises some of the many attributes and works of the Holy Spirit. That the Spirit of God causes us to cry (pray), Abba Father. Indeed we do not know how to pray and so the Spirit of God teaches us, inspires us and moves us. The Holy Spirit bears witness with us that we are children of God and thus heirs to eternal life with Christ.
May the Holy Spirit continue to live in us and manifest His presence in our lives. May He continue to motion us into unwavering faith that we may not live in any doubt of who we are before our Father God; children. Loved children. May the Holy Spirit continue to encourage us to pray to our Father approaching His throne with confidence in His mercy and love daily.
My recommitment today is to call on the Holy Spirit in every moment and every situation of everyday of my life.
