I often times marvel at the works of God’s hands but in the case of the south of Bavaria, I am mesmerized. When God expresses Himself in the beauty of creation, you can’t help but adore.
On this sunny summer day, I gazed at the sea of green fields and stretched my view beyond them to the spectacular mountains whose rough edges of rock create a beautiful sight that surpasses perfection. As they stand tall and tower into beautiful blue skies you can see harmony in creation. The nature on the ground breathes fresh air into the sky making the clouds white and clear against blue (until of course everything turns grey and dark. But on this day, the skies have no interest in crying.
There is an endless supply of optic nutrition in this area. Staring at the green fields, lakes, mountains, going down winding smooth roads, getting transfixed at blue skies feels like being drifted into an enchanted land – imaginations once floating in mind are now in sight, in the same air I breathe and the same breeze that touches my skin.
The people here living in their little sanctuaries have breathed in so much beauty perhaps to a level of oblivion to the fact, or hopefully not because they have been given a piece of heaven just right out their windows and in their neighbourhoods. Simple house structures, fit for a home, the inside smells like delicious spice, sweet herbs, cake; different at different times of the day […] My friend will probably politely say, “It doesn’t always smell or feel like this. We did it for our guests”. Either way, my senses have been blessed and my memories implanted and I know words would fail me should I attempt to express my heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity I have been given to have this experience. Warmth embraces you from the door. It’s in the air that engulfs your body but more so in the light that fills this house _ a light here, a bulb here, a string of tiny lamps wrapped in colored thread balls, a candle there. The combination of all these make my spirit warm and full. It is simply offering an extension of the beauty that one experiences outside.
