Allow yourself to feel what you’re feeling.

Being human is not about feeling happy all the time. It’s about feeling everything. However you feel is the right way because there is no right way to feel; only a right way to respond, behave and carry yourself. Should you even feel a lot of things at the same time, it’s okay.

I have heard people say about others, “Oh, she is always happy! How very sweet!”

Indeed. Isn’t it very sweet? Don’t we all want to be always happy? That would be ideal, right ? But come to think of it; it’s unrealistic to always be happy or to always be sad. Or to always feel loved, strong, confident, at the top of your game. It’s not even healthy, to say the least.

It’s better to admit that there are many seasons for a purpose – be it in the natural weather patterns or in the psychological and emotional life of an individual. It’s wonderful to feel the warmth of the sun, go out and have everything be bright and shiny. It is beautiful too to have rain pouring down upon the earth and to have it watering every plant it touches and bringing it life while touching the skin of people and all creation like a million kisses from God. In all seasons, let’s just live and love and feel exactly what we are feeling in the moment. We should infact allow ourselves to feel what we feel.

Cry if you have to and watch your face soak in tears then blow your nose in that ugly messy cry; touch and soothe the part on our chest that’s throbbing with pain. It’s okay, of course it is. Or cry silent tears of mixed emotions that you don’t know and allow them to roll down your cheeks like warm streams and all the while feeling a flatter like butterflies in your chest, a light anxiety or a joy so deep it opens up your tear glands. Whatever it is that is making you cry is an emotion worth feeling so don’t put it away on a shelf.

Hey, laugh! Don’t forget whenever the slightest opportunity presents itself to smile and laugh. Laugh a hearty laugh and don’t try to make it sound ‘any kind of certain’ way. Just belt it out and make it loud as your lungs can afford until the vibrations from your chest intertwine with the waves in the air surrounding you – until you create a medium to transport your joy and happiness into your environment and into the universe beyond. It’s infectious and healing. It’s rejuvenating and freeing. Give yourself permission to be and to feel happy.

All of the things you feel in every moment are what make you human and alive indeed.
