Make room in your heart.

A story is told of this little boy who was supposed to act as the inn keeper in the Christmas Bible story. As the Bible tells it, Emperor Augustus orders a census in the whole Roman empire.
Everyone, then, went to register himself, each to his own town.
Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of Bethlehem in Judea, the birthplace of King David. Joseph went there because he was a descendant of David.
He went to register with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him. She was pregnant, and while they were in Bethlehem, the time came for her to have her baby.

The story goes on to say Mary had no place to give birth. Joseph sought shelter at an inn where the innkeeper sent them away saying they had no room. As you may know already this child ends up being born in a kraal with animals, wrapped in swaddling cloth and laid in a manger.

Back to the Sunday school play…. This boy had a simple task and that was to say to “Joseph and Mary”(the characters) that there was no room at the inn. All the rooms were taken. The boy, however, seeing how heavy and stressed the acting Mary was and hearing the pleas of “Joseph”, the boy went off script saying,

“I have a big enough room. You can come stay in my room “. Of course, the teacher was not so pleased but you can imagine how moved the audience was, some exclaiming and expressing how sweet a heart this boy must bear. Bless his heart!

An African proverb literally translated states that when people say they are out of room, it is their hearts that are lacking and it has nothing to do with the size of their bodies. So many people can fit in the same bed or under a roof if their hearts are big enough to accommodate each other. “Nihafunda emitima. Tiharikufunda imibiri”.

For christians like myself, one thing; Make room for Christ in your heart, in your life, business, relationships, dreams and aspirations, in all the affairs of your life.

Generally speaking, there is always room for goodness in our hearts. The little you can do in a situation of someone’s need may be just what that person needs. So much good is going on around the world and you want to be among this number of people planting seeds of love around the world. The now late Desmond Tutu (RIP) has become famous for this very simple quote, among others that bears such weight in the world of service;

“Do your little bit of good where you are; it is those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world”

Desmond Tutu

“We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something

Mother Theresa of Culcata

There is room for goodness in the heart of everyone walking this earth if only we allow that light in. There is room for strangers after all they are simply friends we have not yet made as Mother Theresa puts it. There is room for forgiveness and purity of love, compassionate care, charity and hospitality. The thing about love is it purifies, edifies, nourishes and sanctifies.

Make room in your ❤️.

Christ being the reason for this season, our prayer could not be simpler; “LORD JESUS CHRIST, COME INTO MY HEART“.

Showers of blessings.

    1. Thank you.

  2. Thank you!
Making room for Christ in your life and all affairs can mean to lay down your life and follow HIM in a new way or towards uncertain places. And it means to submit your own plans to HIM. I believe that this very challenging Christian principle displays true discipleship.
It starts with making little room in your heart for Christ and ends with HIM being true king and lord of your life.

    1. It’s a lifetime journey and experience.
